Best Stethoscope Reviews

For the longest time we have been focusing on the finding the best stethoscope on the market from the point of view of those professionals that would be using it. However, there are many instances where regular people want or need a stethoscope. Whether you need a stethoscope to try your hand at guessing the combination on a safe, or just to be able to monitor the heart beat of a loved one, you may not be quite sure what the best stethoscope might be for you. So we decided to create several stethoscope reviews that have nothing to do with any profession, but are rather focused on the devices themselves and on how well they would work in a generalized setting. We have chosen products from different manufacturers because each one of the major players in this field actually has something very important to contribute. In general 3M Littmann stands for uncompromising quality, ADC or American Diagnostics have the best value for money products, while Omrom is playing catch up, trying to bring the best products they can  while keeping the prices lower than their competition so that they will be noticed. However, each one also has their very impressive features and that is why we recommend that you scroll past the table below, containing the most significant details about each product, and check out the in depth reviews we have created for each one.

3M Littmann Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope

If you are one of our more avid readers, you will know that we are absolutely crazy about the 3M Littmann Cardiology stethoscope, but that is really a stethoscope intended for experienced doctors, and even some students will not be able to tell the difference between a Cardiology and the Lightweight II stethoscope in terms of its auscultation properties. We have decided to feature it here because it is what Littmann choose to call an entry level stethoscope, meaning it is relatively affordable, although still way more expensive than anything else we are going to talk about today. Still, it is well worth the money given its extreme accuracy level. It is a very easy to use stethoscope because all you need to do is change the level of pressure you apply to the chest piece in order to listen for low and high frequencies. It has an elongated tear shape that allows you to fit it very easily under the blood pressure cuff, and if that is why you need a stethoscope, than you cannot get anything better than the 3M Littmann Lightweight. It has several other features that make it an excellent choice for both professionals and non professionals alike, like the fact that the headset is perfectly anatomically designed to meet your ear canals, making this the most comfortable stethoscope for the user, and, because of the non chill rim it is also the most comfortable stethoscope for patients.

ADC Adscope 609ST Stethoscope

Of course, the biggest problem with the 3M Littmann stethoscopes is that they are too expensive, some would even say that they are more expensive than they are really worth. So if you are looking to get the biggest bang for your buck, than your best choice would be an American Diagnostics stethoscope. The ADC Adscope 609ST Stethoscope is our favorite choice for those of you who do not have a particular specialization. It is a great stethoscope for students because it is in a very affordable price range, but the quality of its parts, and its auscultation properties are excellent. It uses an extra large bell with non chill bell, so it is very comfortable to use. The ear pieces are perfectly positioned to meet the ear canal, so they are quite comfortable. They are not as comfortable as the ones on the Littmann, but they are way above anything else we have seen so far. You also get an extra diaphragm, since those are the most fragile part of a stethoscope, and many first time users tend to overestimate its strength and go through at least a couple of diaphragms before learning just how to use them. Finally, it is important to note that the ADC Adscope 609ST Stethoscope is a lightweight stethoscope, easy to carry around, making it a perfect choice for farmers who may have that little bit of veterinarian knowledge that they may need a stethoscope with them. It is actually an excellent choice for a professional veterinarian, although we do have several other interesting options if that is what you are looking for.

Omron Sprague Rappaport Stethoscope

The last stethoscope we are going to look at in this article is the Omron Sprague Rappaport Stethoscope. There are cheaper stethoscopes on the market, and, if you are going to look at some of our other articles, you are going to find that we have taken them into consideration for specific professionals like nurses. However, since our purpose here was to give you the best stethoscope reviews on the market today, we did not want to lower our quality requirements lower than the Omron Sprague Rappaport Stethoscope. Its auscultation properties are very close to the ADC and even the Littmann, although, obviously not as good. Still, a non experienced user might not even be able to tell the difference between the 2. Also, you have to take into consideration the fact that with this offer you get not only the stethoscope but also 3 sizes open bells and 2 diaphragms, making this an excellent choice for people with small children, or even for pediatricians. The design uses two tubes, one for each ear, which used to be the standard design many years ago, and there are still specialist who argue that this design gives the most accurate details. They ear pieces are quite tight, and we found them somewhat uncomfortable, particularly after long use, but that also means they provide excellent noise cancellation properties. The stethoscope itself is accurate enough that you can listen for wheezing noises in children with asthma and, with a little bit of patience, in a very quiet room, you can even hear the heart bit of your fetus.
